Choosing Wood

I build with (certified) native hardwoods because of environmental concerns. Cherry, Red & White Oak, Ash, Maple, Birch, Beech, Walnut, Butternut, and other hardwoods are given a fair number of choices in color, grain and texture. Native hardwoods range in color from pale to dark, and in texture from tight, closed grain to open bold patterns. Your customized furnishings can be crafted from these traditional furniture hardwoods:

Birch – a closed grain hardwood with a mix of light sapwood & mixed brown heartwood.

Cherry – a medium to deep reddish-brown closed grain wood that darkens with age, acquiring a fine patina.

Hard and Soft Maple – a light beige, closed grain wood with a subtle grain.

Red and White Oak – a light brown wood, with a bold open grain (subtle differences between the two).

Walnut – a rich chocolate-brown, open grained wood that can be polished to a high sheen.

White Ash – a creamy light beige wood, with a bold open grain.

(Other native hardwoods on request.)
